FAQs

Here are some common questions that might be asked about Stream Theory.

  • No. We see religion as having dogma and set beliefs with a god or gods that rule the universe or direct such rules. We do not have such dogma nor do we inherent dogma from any beings. There is a component which one may understand scientifically or spiritually, but individuals may essentially maintain their own religions within Stream Theory if desired.

  • No. But since we like nuance, most religions will call any other system of belief a cult—especially if it is small enough. So we can expect to be called a cult, but we can always expect to be insulted by those who do not share a similar perspective as us.

  • No. Being political or assuming identities which are strongly associated with politics will generally hinder one from success at alignment with positive influential forces by making them fearful and judgmental. It is possible to engage in politics while aligned, but it would be quite the challenge.

  • Stream Theory is a concept from which to live. It is more like a philosophy or even a movement, and it can be understood both scientifically or spiritually. This concept, boiled down to the most fundamental element, is that we ought to align ourselves with positive influential forces as this will lead to our best lives and the best world we can hope to inhabit. The details in which to achieve or define this is where the real work is.

  • We believe the world is shaped and influenced by our mental alignments. This can be seen from a scientific perspective as a form of self-fulfilling prophecy also known as the Pygmalion Effect or Golem Effect and further demonstrated through things like Placebo and Nocebo Effects.

This can also be understood from a spiritual perspective as things like Karma, Energies, and Frequencies. The effect itself is real, and we can frame it how we like. The main point is to learn to thrive in ways that utilize this effect to improve our own lives and through so doing improve the world around us.

  • To find like-minded individuals with which to grow and experience life. The world is often harsh and polarized and together we can step out of the negative “vibes” so to say, and generate a bubble of peace. In so doing, we hope to change the world for the better.

  • Intellectual honesty, introspection, openness, curiosity, and respect. A member is one who desires to align with positive influential forces (empathy, love, hope, joy, patience) while learning to reject negative ones (hate, judgement, fear, deceit). We grow together and support one another.

  • Stream Theory is based on the idea that there are currents of emotion underlying the fabric of reality. One can choose to believe this or not, but it is a decent way of thinking about the influences that shape our lives and world. Whether this is literal or figurative, our beliefs, backed by emotions, behave like waves that permeate others. In such a way, we can learn to flow in the positive currents, steer away from the negative ones, and shape the world around us. The concept also provides a framework and language that is not already inundated by religious and spiritual circles so that we can keep friendly to folks of science. We are also hiding the full details of the Sacrament of the Currents. Shhh.

  • The Sacrament of the Currents is a special experience which will reveal one’s own inner world to them for the purpose of growth. No one is forced or compelled to undergo the sacrament, and we cannot offer any claims of specific therapeutic capabilities, but there are those who have found significant benefit to their mental health via this process.

There are two stages of engagement. The first stage is one on one interactions where you get to know someone in person. This is to gauge personality fit, to answer any questions, and to provide a very personal forum for friendship and support.

Once both parties feel comfortable, it can progress to group involvement. This is to help avoid uncomfortable situations where the group is affected by those who might not yet add to the group’s potential and instead hinder it. All are certainly welcome who wish to align with such a growth mindset, but it is important to keep the group relatively free of turbulence.

  • A fundamental concept of Stream Theory is that there is no leader. We are all in this together and we should never follow any particular individuals as if they have any greater importance than anyone else. We do not take anyone’s words as authority and we use our own minds to judge what is right or plausible. We can share our own experiences but we are to remain humble as to our own understanding and possible fallibility.
